Olga Villa-Parra's Obituary
Olga Villa-Parra, age 71, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2014 at Mercy Hospital. She was born on August 30, 1943 to Julio and Maria (Rodriguez) Villa in San Antonio, TX. Olga was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She was a very caring person who loved to help and serve others. She graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central High School and went to college at Northeastern Illinois for her BA in Sociology. Olga then received her Master’s Degree in Religious Studies at Loyola University. She was a director of both the Midwest Council of La Raza and later Midwest Hispanic Catholic Commission based at Notre Dame serving the Midwest regions. Olga would say, “I try to live each day to the fullest, as life is too short not to be lived with faith, passion and conviction.” Olga retired in 1994 as program officer at Lilly Endowment. On July 21, 1979 she married Ricardo Parra and he survives her along with six of her siblings, Alvino Villa, Maria McClain, Petra Flores, Julia Diaz, Dolores Villa and Theresa Retana; many nieces and nephews and several grand-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jose Villa and sister, Margarita Ayala. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 11, 2014 at The Lee Chapel with Rev. Fr. Donald E. Weber presiding. VISITATION with the family will be 6-8 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. MEMORIALS can be made to Muskegon Catholic Central High School. BURIAL will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Muskegon.
