Oliver A. Judd Jr.'s Obituary
Oliver A. Judd, Jr., age 87, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the Poppen Residence. He was born on June 4, 1930 to Oliver and Jean (Pietrowski) Judd in Muskegon. Oliver proudly served his country in the United States Army, retiring as a Command Sergeant Major after 29 years of dedicated service. He was enlisted in the 82nd Airborne Division as a combat engineer. Ollie earned his Green Beret and served in the Special Forces in the 5th, 7th and 10th groups and the 46th Special Forces Company in Vietnam and Thailand. After retiring from the service he became a bus driver for the MATS Bus system of Muskegon. Oliver loved being outdoors; he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved skydiving as well as occasionally gold prospecting. He will be missed by all who knew him. Oliver is survived by his children, Randy Judd, Susan Judd Fern, John (Elizabeth) Judd; grandchildren, Pete (Lisa) Lampros, Dannielle (Thomas) Canada, Rhyannon Sanders, Jennifer Self, Tony (Melissa) Self, Kristina (Andy) Miller, Johnathon Judd (Ambre Couturier); eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Martha; sister, Irene and children, Jeanne and Jeffrey. A MEMORIAL SERVICE for Oliver will take place on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231-798-1100) at 11:00 AM with visitation an hour prior to the service. A private graveside service will happen later in the summer in Mona View Cemetery. For a more lasting memory, donations in Oliver’s name can be made to the Green Beret Foundation.
