Orlando "Orrie" Vela's Obituary
Mr. Orlando “Orrie” Vela, age 49, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2013. He was born on May 22, 1964 to Arturo S. and Isaura “Sue” (Ruiz) Vela. Orlando was a caring man and always enjoyed giving back to the community. During his lifetime Orlando was a successful entrepreneur in the following businesses Orrie’s Automotive, Westshore Quality Car Wash, Nico’s Pizza, and Optimise Transportation. He was also involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters; volunteered at DeVos Children’s Hospital, and was a part of Easter Seals. Orlando loved spending time with his family, attending his children’s sporting events, culinary cooking, fishing and motorcycles. He was also a member of the Muskegon Eagles and the Mona Lake Boat Club. On July 5, 1997 Orlando married Lisa Patino and she survives him along with 3 children, Aubrie, Nico and Saddie; father, Arturo (Rosalinda) Vela; brothers, Art Vela, David Vela and Darrell Vela; sisters, Mabel Guevara, Maria (Pierre) Grenier, Anna (Mike Gibson) Ryan and Elsa Vela; mother-in-law, Georgia Strube, brothers-in-law, Chuck (Lucy) Patino and Randy (Vicki) Patino; and sister-in-law, Rita (Tom) Dubault. Orlando also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, brothers-in-law, Ray Patino III and Edward Alexander and niece, Debra Ann Santos. FUNERAL SERVICES will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, October 3, 2013 at The Lee Chapel 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Rev. Fr. Matthew Barnum presiding. VISITATION with the family will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Wednesday. MEMORIALS to DeVos Children’s Hospital would be appreciated. BURIAL will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
