Orlen B. Card's Obituary
Mr. Orlen B. Card, age 87, passed away Sunday morning, April 29, 2007, at VNS Hospice. Orlen was born March 15, 1920 to Charles and Hazel (Carter) Card. On May 10, 1945, he married the former Mildred O. ( Osbun ) in Muskegon, and she preceded him in death on April 6, 1993 Mr. Card served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army, being awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Bronze Battle Star, Good Conduct Medal, 4 Overseas Service Bars; the American Defense Service and American Theater Ribbons. Orlen worked at American Store Equipment for 38 years, prior to his retirement in 1991. He was a member of VFW Post #7729 and loved hunting , camping, and had managed the Acker Lake Campground for many years. Orlen is survived by 2 daughters, Gloria and (Cliff) Verschueren of Hart and Denee Card of Muskegon; 2 sons, Daryl (Deb) Card of Muskegon and Gary Card of Wausau, WI; 8 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. With Elder Robert Melton Jr. officiating. VISITATION will be Tuesday from 10-11AM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Egelston Township Cemetery with FULL MILITARY RITES under the auspices of VFW Post # 7729 . In Lieu of flowers, MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to the West Michigan Vets Center Inc. Food Pantry.
