Otto C. Rosswaag's Obituary
Otto C. Rosswaag, age 97, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2010 following a long illness. Otto was born on July 13, 1913 in Idar-Oberstein, Germany the eldest of five children to Rudolph and Helene (Schardong) Rosswaag. He came to the United States at the age of 12 and settled in Manhattan, NY. Otto married Emily M. Rischert on October 3, 1936 and she preceded him in death on November 27, 1985. Otto enjoyed and shared an active life style with his family, hiking in the Adirondacks, canoeing and sailing on the Hudson. He was also a model rail roader and enjoyed making wooden model ships. Otto retired in 1978 from Burlington Industries in NYC where he was employed as a textile designer and moved to Pinellas Park, FL. In 2007 Otto came to Muskegon to be near his daughter Louise. He is survived by: daughter, Louise E. Rosswaag of Whitehall; brother, Ramon (Cathy) Rosswaag in NJ; sister, Judith Hamilton in NJ; sister-in-law, Eleanor Rosswaag of VA and dear friends of Louise, Dollene and Gary St. Martin of N. Muskegon. He was also preceded in death by his son, Ronald Rosswaag in 1997. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no service or visitation.
