Pastor Lewis H. Glick's Obituary
Pastor Lewis H. Glick, age 86, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016, at Lake Woods Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was born on March 12, 1930 to Henry and Martha (Althoff) Glick in Detroit, MI. He graduated from Capital University in 1952 and Evangelical Lutheran Seminary in 1956. On August 26, 1956, he married Janet Stueber in Parma, OH. He served the congregations of Faith Lutheran Church, Metamora, OH, Grace Lutheran Church, Luckey, OH, American Lutheran Church, Mt. Clemens, MI and Immanuel Lutheran Church, Muskegon, MI. He continued his ministry in many churches across Michigan during his retirement years. He was honored on May 16, 2016, at the North West Lower Michigan Synod Assembly for his 60 years of faithful and dedicated service.
He enjoyed golfing, visiting Pere Marquette beach, watching the Detroit Tigers and Lions, the presentations at the USS Silversides Museum and researching his German ancestry. His whole life was centered around serving the needs of others. He was an excellent listener, mentor, spiritual provider and friend. Described by many others as “a great man”.
In addition to his strong faith and family values, the legacy of Pastor Lewis Glick is carried on by his wife of 60 years, Janet; children, Cheryl (Harvey) Hertz, David (Karen) Glick, Gary (Michelle) Glick and Amy (John) Smith; Grandchildren, Matthew (Melissa) Hertz, Jeremy (April) Hertz, Bethany Hertz, Benjamin & Aubrey Glick, Cassandra (Robert) Ray, Adriane Glick, Heather and Nicole Smith; Great-Grandchildren, Timothy & Madelyn Hertz and Corbin Ray and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to thank the staff of Lake Woods Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and VNS Hospice for their compassionate care. Many visits were made to Pastor Glick on the staff’s personal time and were greatly appreciated.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE for Pastor Glick will be held at First Lutheran Church (1206 Whitehall Road) on Saturday, October 1, at 11:00 am, Pastors Bill Uetricht & Chris Anderson officiating. VISITATION with the family will only take place on Friday, September 30, from 3-5PM and 7-9PM at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI,49444, 231-798-1100.
