Patricia Mary Durda's Obituary
Mrs. Patricia M. Durda, age 87, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2013 at Christian Care Nursing Center. She was born March 17, 1926 in Grand Rapids, MI to Earl and Nettie (Bourgeois) Crawford. She married Matthew F. Durda, Sr. on October 24, 1942 in Muskegon. He preceded her in death on October 4, 2010. Together, they owned and operated Matt’s Body Shop then the Rollarena skating rink and finally the D Mart, retiring in 1995. She was formerly a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She was also a member of the Antique Car Club and Altrusa Club. Patricia was a very loving person and would always say, “I don’t shake hands, I give hugs”. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Mary “Patsy” (Jon) Ellerbroek; son, David Lee Durda; daughter-in-law, Pat Durda, Jr.; 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter, Addie; 2 sisters, Loraine Kuzyk and Belva Mayo; 2 brothers, Neal (Debra) Crawford and Elden Crawford ; also, several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Matthew F. Durda, Jr., grandson Matthew Durda III, brothers, Carl and L.D. Crawford. The MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11: 00 a.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Muskegon with Rev. Fr. Anthony M. “Tony” Pelak as celebrant. VISITATION will be Monday 6-8 p.m.with a Rosary at 5:30 p.m. at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100. She will be laid to rest in E. Dalton Oakhill Cemetery. MEMORIAL contributions may be made to Christian Care Center Gazebo Project, St. Mary of the Woods or St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Pat’s family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Christian Care Nursing Center for their excellent and loving care.
