Mrs. Patricia Jean Miller's Obituary
Mrs. Patricia Jean Miller, nee Wittkamp, died on Tuesday, August 5, 2014. Patricia was born to Edward and Helen (Hegedus) Wittkamp on October 2, 1938. She graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in 1956 and went on to obtain an Associate Degree in Secretarial Science from Baker College in 1990. Her work history includes: 13 years at Plumbs; 19 years at Sealed Power; 5 years at Horizon Group and 12 years at Goodwill Industries of West Michigan, from where she retired in 2008. She felt truly privileged to spend her last working years with the developmentally disabled population. She married Michael Nels Miller on September 12, 1970 and they became parents of a stillborn son in 1971 and a daughter, Joanna Elizabeth, in 1973. Pat loved her casino trips with her friends and after Joanna and her husband moved to Las Vegas in 2001, she and Mike made the trek out there twice a year and fell in love with the city and surrounding area. She also loved sitting on the deck watching the flowers grow (in the summer) and watching the hummers feed. Her cats were a great joy and she was always a voracious reader. Survivors include her husband, Michael Miller; daughter and son-in-law, Joanna and Steven Swanson; foster sister, Mary Ann Seymour of Muskegon; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Beth and John Utz of Eaton Rapids; nephews and niece: Paul (Sarah) Wittkamp and their three daughters of North Carolina; Rachel Wittkamp of Muskegon; James (Lindsay) Utz of Fowlerville, MI; cousins, the Reverend Doctor Frank Hegedus of Budapest, Hungary and Susan Ostermann of Grand Rapids and Walter and Charles Wittkamp. Preceding her in death was her still-born son, Michael Casey in 1971, parents, Edward in 1977, Helen in 1995; brothers, Ted in 2004, Bo in 2006; brother-in-law, George Seymour in 2005, brother-in-law, Patric Miller in 2012 and dearest friends, Christy Gregwer in 2003 and Nan’c Carpenter in 2011. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service and celebration of Pat’s life will take place at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 9, 2014 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with Rev. John Brown officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to The Poppen Residence, Heaven Can Wait or the Muskegon Rescue Mission.
