Patricia S. O'Toole's Obituary
Mrs. Patricia S. O’Toole, 82 years old, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Patricia Ann was born on November 26, 1933 to Clyde and Carlene (Markham) Schimke in Manistee, Michigan. She graduated from Manistee High School in 1952 and moved shortly thereafter to Muskegon and attended Muskegon Business College. While working for Judge William Caughey, she met Thomas J. O’Toole and they were married on January 22, 1955. Together they raised seven children and were married 53 years. Patricia was a loving mother who devoted her life to raising her children and continued to be an influential part of their adult lives. She was an excellent cook, gardener, skilled knitter, had beautiful handwriting and a command of the English language. Pat traveled a great deal with her husband Tom and children, especially enjoying Ireland and Pensacola Beach, Florida. She was very proud of her 10 years volunteering at the American Red Cross as a nurse scheduler for the blood drives and other duties, receiving a special volunteer recognition. Pat was an active member of St. Jean’s Catholic Church and a member of the Muskegon Garden Club, receiving many blue ribbons. Manistee was always home in her heart and she spoke often of her extended family, providing her children with treasured memories. Pat inherited a cabin on Lime Lake in Leelanau County that was built by her parents, on property purchased by her grandfather, Glen Markham, and the family continues to enjoy it today. Patricia is survived by her seven children, Thomas J. (Sarah Stevens) O’Toole of Silver Spring, MD, Kathleen O. (Tim) Langlois of Muskegon, Mary L. (Todd) Holtz of Midland, Daniel J. (Kellie) O’Toole of Williamston, John P. (Patti) O’Toole, Margaret A. O’Toole and Sarah O. Stephenson, all of Muskegon; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Virginia O’Toole and Nancy O’Toole; brother-in-law, Michael O’Toole; many nieces, nephews; numerous dear cousins, especially her “sister cousins”, Bonnie Miller and Arlene Russell, both of the Manistee area. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, in 2008, 2 sisters-in-law, 3 brothers-in-law and extended Markham and Schimke relatives. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, Friday, February 19, 2016 at St. Mary the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (239 W Clay Ave, Muskegon, MI 49440) with Rev. Fr. Mathew J.
