Patricia Kay "Pat" Overly's Obituary
Patricia Kay “Pat” Overly, age 81, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Trinity Health – Muskegon Campus. She was born May 1, 1942 in Muskegon to Cecil and Marion (Keur) Porter and she graduated from Muskegon Heights High School. On February 25, 1967, she married Wayne A. Overly at Oakwood Church in Muskegon. Pat was a member of the inaugural graduating class at Grand Valley State College, where she earned her Bachelor of Education Degree. She spent 34 years teaching for Muskegon Public Schools. Pat was a valuable asset to the Angell Elementary School community where she taught kindergarten and first grade for 34 years. The relationships that she nurtured with her students and generations of their families brought her tremendous joy. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Wayne A. Overly; 3 children, Pete (Denise) Bobb, Sharon (Warren) Haas, Sarah (Kurt) Johansen; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Jim (Judy) Porter; 3 sisters, Cookie (Jerry) Bush, Jan Brents, Mary (Greg) Huss; and 2 generations of beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. A visitation will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 9, 2024 followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave, Muskegon, MI 49442.
