Patricia Ann Palmer's Obituary
Patricia Ann Palmer, age 82, received her glorious promotion to the kingdom of heaven on Monday, September 12, 2022 following a 30 year battle with heart disease. She was born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan on June 1, 1940 to John and Geneva (Claucherty) Schade. On April 15, 1961, Pat married Donald Palmer and started their family. After raising four children, Pat went back to college and received her Bachelor of Education degree from Western Michigan University. She used her degree to teach and later worked for a nonprofit agency to improve the quality of childcare. Pat was a member of Covenant Life Church and formerly a member of Bethany Christian Reformed Church. She had a strong personal faith which she freely shared with others. Pat taught Sunday School for many years at both Bethany and Covenant Life Church. She was kind and compassionate and took a personal interest in people and always felt drawn to serve others. She cherished relationships, especially those with family. Her grandchildren have fond memories of the two weeks each summer when she would hold “Camp Palmer”. Although the adventures themselves were fun, Pat’s intention was to create lasting relationships between the cousins. Pat is survived by her husband, Donald; four children, Daniel (Jeanette) Palmer, Dale (Sonia Britton) Palmer, Marlies Sherwood, Charles (Melissa) Palmer; nine grandchildren, Emily Palmer, Dean Palmer, Samuel (Katie) Palmer, Tori Gordon, Miranda (Jeffrey) Hoopingarner, Bradley Sherwood, Aidan (Mica) Palmer, Arielle Palmer, Elora Palmer; great-grandchildren, Chloe Cobb, Gabby Brown, Makenzie Palmer; and sister, Diane Millspaugh. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Brian Sherwood and three brothers, John Michael, Philip, and Thomas Schade. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Monday, September 26, 2022 at Covenant Life Church (101 Columbus Ave., Grand Haven, MI 49417) with Pastor Marshall Holtvluwer officiating. VISITATION will be from 2-5 PM Sunday, September 25, 2022 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444.
