The best Aunt a girl could ask for, Aunt Pat, was a master at making it seem effortless to gather everyone together into her home. She always made us feel welcome and loved. She has passed this awesome trait on to her girls, such a beautiful gift. Every time I think maybe my homemaking skills aren’t up for the challenge of having a big crowd over I think of the time Aunt Pat had us all over for dinner. She made quiche and something went wrong with the recipe. With so many mouths to feed that could have easily upset a person and sent them into a panic but she handled with humor and grace. I remember thinking how I wanted to be like that when I grew up and now, when I get stressed out, I think of her laughing that day.
I’m so grateful for her willingness to drop summer plans and take us around the old stomping ground in MI last summer too. I will cherish every minute spent and feel so blessed to have those recent photos for my kids.
I’m sure she is being blessed in heaven for a life well lived on earth and I look forward to seeing her again. I will miss her smile and that “up to something” laugh of hers until then.
