Patricia Rose Tyler's Obituary
Patricia “Patty” Tyler, 81, of Muskegon, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, surrounded by family at the home of her son Matthew and daughter-in-law Jennifer, who lovingly cared for her. Born in Lake George, Michigan, on May 2, 1944, to Russell and Rose (Luce) Coon, Patty graduated valedictorian of Farwell High School and attended Western Michigan University. She enjoyed a career as a real estate agent, was co-owner of Peachwood Technology, and founder of Patty’s Pasties – still sold today at Cherokee Restaurant, formerly owned by son Aaron and daughter-in-law Lisa Tyler. Patty married her best friend, John Tyler, on August 1, 1964. For 58 years, they shared a life rooted in love, hard work, and family. She was a constant presence at her children’s and grandchildren’s events and had a gift for making everyday moments special – from lively card games to her famous homemade applesauce and pasties. She inspired a love of reading, music, and tradition in her family, and her warmth and patience touched everyone she met. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents, and her siblings, Ward and Virginia. She is survived by her sons Aaron (Lisa) Tyler and Matthew (Jennifer) Tyler; grandchildren Michele (Ryan) Gill, Lindsay Tyler, Kimberly (Jordan) Darcy, Molly Tyler, Nicholas Tyler, Harley (Travis Tate) Tyler, and Hannah Tyler; and was GiGi to great-grandchildren Rylee, Emma, Evie, Summer, Beckham, Penelope, Anthony, and Delilah. She is also survived by her brother Bob (Sylvia) Coon, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. MEMORIAL SERVICE will be Friday, Aug. 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Home, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, with VISITATION from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice in Fremont or Senior Resources of West Michigan.
