Patricia Jane "Pat" Walborn's Obituary
Patricia Jane “Pat” Walborn passed away peacefully at home on her 86th birthday Thursday, September 14, 2023, in Spring Lake, MI. She was born September 14, 1937, in Kingston, PA, to Lloyd and Stella (Crossley) Hughey. She graduated from Andrews School for Girls, in Willoughby, OH in 1955 and attended Wittenburg University. There, she would meet the love of her life, David Walborn, on the very first day at a school mixer and they were married on June 15, 1957. Pat would go on to graduate from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and then Western Michigan University with a Master’s Degree in Education.
Pat had a love for teaching and taught at Lake Hills Elementary School for 25 years, beginning when the school first opened. She enjoyed entertaining, golfing and was an avid quilter. She was involved in the Grand Haven Quilt Guild and was a past winner of the Quilt Show held during the Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival. She was also a member of the Spring Lake Yacht Club and First Lutheran Church in Muskegon, MI.
Pat will be lovingly remembered by her husband, David; children, Hugh (Melinda Post) Walborn, Glen (Carolyn) Walborn and Lynn Walborn; grandchildren, Amanda (Scott Nauert) Walborn, Susan (Rhys) Grayson, Alan (Stephanie Lazar) Walborn, David (Allison Rivera) Walborn, Reid (Meta Strange) Walborn, Grant (Tess Joosse) James and Nathan James; great grandchildren, Remy Walborn and Benjamin Walborn. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Paul Hughey.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 4 PM on Friday, September 22, 2023, at First Lutheran Church (1206 Whitehall Rd., Muskegon, MI 49445) with Pastor Bill Uetricht officiating with VISITATION 1 hour prior to the service and a reception at the church immediately following the service. The service will also be streamed online. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be directed to the Spring Lake District Library Renovation Fund of the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Association Michigan Chapter.
