Patrick "Paddy" Bryant's Obituary
Mr. Patrick William Bryant, age 78, of Robinson Township, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023, at home. He was born March 3, 1945, in Grand Haven to Cecil and Fidelma (Fay) Bryant. On October 1, 1966, he married the love of his life Mary Lou Raczok.
Known by most as Paddy, he served his country in the US Navy and retired after 33 years from Consumers Energy in 2013. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. In his earlier years, Paddy enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing softball and going on long motorcycle rides. He loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, riding a horse or playing with his tractor on the farm. He was also a member of the Eagles for over 30 years and a former Ottawa County Sheriff Reservist. Paddy was a devoted husband, father and friend to all, making some of the worst experiences and turning them into something positive with his sense of humor. He was a selfless man with a heart of gold, willing to give his shirt off his back to those who needed. He made sure to let you know why family is so important and why it’s always better to give back. Many will remember him sitting at the barn and waving to all who passed by, inviting them over for a beer and a laugh or two. Then later sitting in the living room waving from the window offering a smile to those who passed.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, MaryLou; four children: Pat Bryant, Jackie Bryant, Shelly MacIntyre and Kristin Bryant; seven grandsons: Phillip, Andrew, Christopher, Nicholas, Brandon, Jacob, and Caleb; great-granddaughter, Layla.
Paddy fought a hard battle with cancer and passed away at home surrounded by family. He is seen as a true hero and warrior for all he has endured.
A Memorial Mass will be 11:00 AM Friday, June 16, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. William R. Vander Werff officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church.
