Patrick C. "Pat, Show Daddy" Fitzgerald's Obituary
Patrick C. “Pat, Show Daddy” Fitzgerald, age 55, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024 – on his 55th birthday. Pat bravely battled ALS and lived his life to the fullest. He was born in Muskegon, MI on December 11, 1969 to Andrew and Barbara (Welmers) Fitzgerald. He graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central High School Class of 1988 and earned his Associate’s Degree from Muskegon Community College. Pat worked for Spectra Products in Grand Haven and later worked 8 years as a Quality Control Manager for Active Manufacturing before retiring in 2021. He married Kristine M. Houseman on November 20, 1993 in Muskegon. Pat was a longtime volunteer for Muskegon County 4-H and the Fruitport Equestrian Team, because he was one of the only dads to be a show parent he was given the nickname, “Show Daddy” which he lovingly displayed on every t-shirt and sweatshirt that he could. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting and fishing. Pat also enjoyed card games, puzzles, listening to music and supporting his kids in their various extracurricular activities. Pat was passionate about sports. He loved watching the Detroit Lions and Red Wings, Notre Dame football and women’s basketball, the U.S. Women’s National Soccer team, and participated in fantasy football leagues every year. He will be missed greatly by his large family and host of friends. Survivors include his loving wife, Kris Fitzgerald; 3 children, Jackson (Cody) Ruble, Isaac (Libby Brower) Fitzgerald, and Karson Fitzgerald; 2 brothers, Scott Fitzgerald (Lisa Brown), and Kelly Fitzgerald; 3 sisters, Kim (Kirk) Stephenson, Karen (Dan) Martin, Nancy (Gary) Kujawski; mother-in-law, Jaqueline Houseman; 3 sisters-in-law, Carrie Fitzgerald, Raelyn (Paul) Geldaker, Anne Windberg; 1 brother-in-law, Tom Windberg; his nieces and nephews, Brianne, Derek, Ryan, Brad, Nolan, Jordan, Meagan, Montana, Dylan, Brett, Erik, Bre, Liam, Drake, Lauren, Lillian, Sam and Raeleigh. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Pam Downing; his father-in-law, Raymond Houseman; his nephew, Luke Geldaker; and special cousins, Zach and Joey Rasey. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1110 Dykstra Road, Muskegon, MI 49445, with Rev. Fr. Godfrey Onyekwere presiding. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Wednesday at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444, where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:30 PM Wednesday with Pastor Jeff Brower officiating. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday at the church. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery at a later date.
