Patrick J. Dawson's Obituary
Patrick J. Dawson, age 74, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024. He was born March 18, 1950 in Muskegon to Jerry E. and Mary Ellen (Byrnes) Dawson. He graduated from Central Lake High School where he was involved in sports and band. Pat worked in maintenance for 32 years at Muskegon Public Schools and retired in 2007. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards, deer hunting with his father and brothers, and was a gifted craftsman in woodworking and stained glass. He also had a great love of music and of his Irish heritage dabbling in genealogy of his family over the years. Pat thoroughly enjoyed traveling to Ireland with his immediate family, drinking Guinness, and was a yearly attendee of the Muskegon Irish Music Festival. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where he volunteered as an usher and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #706. Survivors include 3 children, Patrick S. (Rhonda) Dawson, Kelly Blamer, Molly (Jerry) Bennett; 6 grandchildren, Brianna, Tanner, Lane, Anna, Garrett, Lillian; 2 great-grandchildren, Braydon, Jream; 4 sisters, Ellen Ann Fogle, Mary Jane Cook, Suzanne Lack, Kathleen (James Sierminski) Dawson; 2 sisters-in-law, Lori Dawson, Teri Dawson; and longtime companion, Cathy Knapp. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Dawson; his parents; and 3 brothers, Jerry, Richard and Tom Dawson, and his beloved Yorkie Poo, Charlie. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday, August 19, 2024 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church (1110 Dykstra Road, North Muskegon, MI 49445) with Rev. Fr. Godfrey Onyekwere presiding. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass on Monday at the church. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or Pound Buddies.
