Mr. Patrick Donald Kelley's Obituary
Mr. Patrick Donald Kelley, age 78, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, March 8, 2012 at his home. He was born in Muskegon on February 27, 1934 to Donald and Anne (Ribesky) Kelley . Mr. Kelley graduated from Sacred Heart Elementary School and St. Mary’s High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and had been employed by Muskegon County for 36 years before retiring in 1994 as maintenance supervisor for the wastewater plant. Mr. Kelley was a member of St. Jean Baptiste Catholic Church (former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church), Tatra Hall and American Legion Post 9. He enjoyed gardening, playing racquetball and football, enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, and was a loyal fan of Notre Dame. Most importantly, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his friends at Tatra Hall. On July 9, 1955, Patrick married the former Joyce Zuidema and she survives him along with 4 children, Paula (Tom) Martin, Michael Kelley, Colleen (Greg) Paquin, and Peggy (Mike) Walling; 13 grandchildren, Kelly Jo, Katie, Tyler, Lauren, Allison, Zach, Jake, Kurtis, Rebecca, Ryan, Adam, Emily, and Hannah, 1 great-granddaughter, Akeelah; 1 sister, Cecilia Welbes; and best friends, Fran Kolenic and brother-in-law, Doug Zuidema. The MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 10:00 AM Monday at St. Mary’s of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Matthew J. Barnum presiding. VISITATION will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Sunday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100, with the ROSARY prayed at 2:00 PM. BURIAL will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. MEMORIALS to Harbor Hospice or Muskegon Catholic Education Foundation would be appreciated.
