Patrick Joseph Matlock's Obituary
Patrick Joseph Matlock, age 44, met his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 after an epic Viking warrior battle with cancer. He was born on September 20, 1976 in Flint, MI. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Surveying Engineering from Ferris State in 2011 and then continued to obtain another bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan Tech in 2014. Patrick was a proud veteran serving in the U.S. Navy as a Construction Electrician Petty Officer Second Class from 1998-2006. On June 24, 2011 he married the love of his life, the former Terri Taucher in Houghton, MI. Together they cherished 10 years full of love, laughter and adventure. He was a faithful servant of his Lord and a longtime member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Patrick was an avid outdoorsman and had a passion for hunting. He had planned to take an Elk hunting trip out west with his friends next year. He truly enjoyed being in nature and going on hikes. Patrick was also an all or nothing Tigers, Lions, and Redwing’s fan. He loved his Michigan teams! He also took pride in growing his magnificent beard. Above all things, he loved his family and spending time with them. He was a tender-loving and outgoing spirit that will truly be missed by many. He is survived by his loving wife, Terri Matlock; father, Harold (Sue) Matlock; mother, Paula (Peader) Hogan; 3 brothers, Donald (Jeremy Mauck) Matlock, Alan Hogan and Colm (Julie) Hogan; 5 sisters, Dr. Katherine (Timothy Opalka) Matlock, Elizabeth (Christopher Perdue) Matlock, Christine Matlock, Deidre (Mickey) Clarke and Dara (Darren Cullen) Hogan; 12 nieces and nephews; and Patrick’s cherished cat, CB.
