Patsy J. Broge's Obituary
Patsy J. Broge, age 86, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Poppen House after her long struggle with cancer. She was born June 12, 1935 in Muskegon to John and Dorothy (Calkins) Start. Patsy was a graduate of Muskegon Heights High School. On August 24, 1956, she married Gerald “Jerry” Broge in Muskegon. In her earlier years, Patsy worked as a bank teller prior to raising her family. Once the children were old enough to be on their own, she worked as a drapery seamstress at Airline Paint and Quigley Draperies for many years. Patsy attended Bridge Bible Church in Norton Shores and had a passion for jigsaw puzzles and sewing. SURVIVORS include her husband of 65 years, Jerry of Norton Shores; daughter, Vicki Broge of Norton Shores; granddaughter, Haley Broge of Indianapolis, IN; brother, John “Roger” (Shirley) Start of TN; 2 sisters: Gloria Burch of Lakeland, FL, and Dixie Morton of Norton Shores; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gary Lee Broge in February, 2021; and 3 sisters: Marilyn Kobylorz, Jackie Pitts, and Delores Mills. According to Patsy’s wishes, a private family graveside service was held at Norton Cemetery. MEMORIALS to Bridge Bible Church in Norton Shores will be appreciated.
