Mr. Paul Richard Black's Obituary
Mr. Paul Richard Black, age 84, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2012 in Casa Grande, AZ where he had been spending his winter. He was born July 5, 1927 in Muskegon to Paul Steven and Elizabeth (Denhof) Black and was a life resident of the area. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and was awarded the Victory Ribbon, the American Area Ribbon, the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. Paul worked for 32 years at Anaconda Wire & Cable before retiring. He married the former Betty Jean Banner and she preceded him in death in 1983. He later married Dorothy Richardson and she preceded him in death in 2009. Paul was an active member of the Vikings Linne Lodge #57 where he served as past chief. He was also a member of the VFW in Casa Grande, AZ. SURVIVORS include 3 sons, Ronald Paul (Mary) Black of Casa Grande, AZ, David Edward (Sue) Black of Orlando, FL, Lary Alan (Shelley) Black of Montague; 4 step-children, Thomas (Char) Richardson, Barbara (Rolf) Osland, Kristy (Paul) Prentice, Pamela (Jeff) Nason; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Marcie Blevins; and close friend and neighbor, Joe Mieler. He was also preceded in death by his parents. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., (231) 759-8565, with military honors offered by the Muskegon County Council of Veterans and the U.S. Navy National Guard. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
