Mr. Paul DeLong ,Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Paul DeLong, Jr., age 98, passed away Wednesday morning, June 26, 2013. He was born May 8, 1915 in Muskegon to Paul and Kate (Schuitema) DeLong, Sr. Mr. DeLong was independently employed and delivered the Muskegon Chronicle for many years. In his spare time he enjoyed sporting events. Mr. DeLong was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where he had been an usher and belonged to the Serra Club. On August 24, 1940 he married the former Margaret L. Bogner in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on August 1, 2002. SURVIVORS include 5 children, Karen (Sam) Meyers of Muskegon, Judy (Bill) McAlister of Grand Haven, Wayne (Becky) DeLong of Fairfield, OH, Terry DeLong of Allendale, David (Anita) DeLong of Santa Cruz, CA; 13 grandchildren, Grant (Kris) Meyers, Amy (Bruce) Sherd, Jolynn Wright, Andrea (David) Mahler, Emily (Brian) Leigh, Barry Sodini, Katie DeLong, Rusty (Megan) DeLong, Allison and Becca DeLong, Michael, Marc, and Jessica Hipsley; 7 great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Lauren Meyers, Collyn Deephouse, Riley Leigh, Jaxson Sodini, Baxter and Tucker DeLong; sisters-in-law, Eddy Bogner of Ludington, Madonna Bogner of Muskegon; beloved nieces, nephews; and dear friends. He was also preceded in death by 4 sisters, Bertha Snow, Mary Friesema, Catherine Vanderlaan, Nina Dewind; 4 brothers, Tom, Wesley, William, and Robert. THE FUNERAL LITURGY will be celebrated 1:00 PM Monday at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Matthew J. Barnum presiding. Entombment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church. MEMORIALS to St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Memorial Fund or Harbor Hospice will be appreciated.
