Mr. Paul L. Dratz's Obituary
Mr. Paul L. Dratz, 65, went to his Eternal home unexpectedly on Thursday, March 25, 2021. He was born May 6, 1955 to Edward M. and JoAnn (Nash) Dratz in Muskegon, and was a lifelong resident. Paul was a Sr. Technician in ThermalSpray at the Alcoa Corp. for many years before retiring in 2014. He was an active member of Fifth Reformed Church, having served as a SS teacher, Deacon and Elder, as well as singing in the choir. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, playing euchre and pickleball. He was the happiest spending time with his family and his new grandson. His greatest sense of satisfaction was helping others as he was a Master at being able to build or repair anything. Truly, this was his God-given gift and he used it. On September 27, 1980 he married Julie L. Bomers and she survives him along with 1 son, Jim (Katie) Dratz of Zeeland; 1 grandson Charles John “Chip” Dratz; siblings: Rhesa (John) Martin, Kathy (Matt) Kollig, John (Margaret) Dratz, David (Cheryl) Dratz, Freda (Dale) Rodgers, Mary (Michael) Baldwin, Susanna (Dick Ghezzi) Dratz, Michael (Angel) Dratz, Mark Dratz; brother-in-law, David Bomers; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving are Aunts, Lois (Chuck) Byer, and Arlene Bromley; Uncles, Dick Swords and Jack (Marcia) Brace. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Stephan Paul Dratz, a brother in-law, Jerry Bomers Jr, his parents and In-laws. The funeral service for Paul will be held Thursday, April 1, at 2:00 PM at Fifth Reformed Church, 2330 Holton Rd., Muskegon 49445. Visitation limited to 25 guests at a time will be Wednesday, March 31, from 5-8 PM at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. Visitation will also be 1 hour prior to the service at church. Box 9405, Grand Rapids, MI 49509, or Fifth Reformed Church Building Fund.
