Paul J. Hill's Obituary
Mr. Paul Joseph Hill, age 89, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2019 in Muskegon at home with his wife Lavon by his side after a short battle with cancer. He was born on August 8, 1929 in Muskegon to Eino and Elma (Kurti) Hill. He attended Muskegon High School and Muskegon Community College. On April 14, 1951 Paul married the former Lavon Cloetingh. They recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. Paul retired from Meijer as a meat cutter. He enjoyed trout fishing and camping with his family in the Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan. He had been a member of the Vikings Linne Lodge in Muskegon. SURVIVORS include his wife, Lavon; three daughters, Cheryl (Scott) Turner of Green Bay, WI, Vicki (Ken) McVeigh of Jensen Beach, FL, Lynne (Ken) Coverly of Rothbury; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and his brother, Robert “Bob” (Mary) Hill of Muskegon. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Oliver Hill; and a sister, Ruth Kauppila. Paul’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Sanctuary At The Oaks and the Harbor Hospice Nurses and Caregivers for their compassionate care. A Memorial Service will be held 1 PM Friday, August 2nd at Sanctuary at the Oaks in Muskegon. Memories can be shared with Paul’s family, www.sytsemafh.com. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in Paul’s memory to either Harbor Hospice of Muskegon or the Sanctuary at the Oaks Foundation.
