Mr. Paul Lee Kidd's Obituary
Mr. Paul Lee Kidd Sr, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. He was born on August 22, 1935 to Noah and Octavia (Herbert) Kidd in Pikeville, KY. When Paul turned 18 he joined the US Navy Submarine Service and served from 1954-1976. During his Naval career, Paul served on seven boats, from the Arctic to Antarctica and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Following his retirement from the Navy Paul volunteered his time at the Smithsonian Institution. He retired again in 2004 and moved to North Muskegon with his wife, Barbara, where he was active in supporting the USS Silversides. He also was of member of Escolar Base of US Submarine Veterans, where he served as Commander for four years. Paul is survived by his wife of 29 years, Barbara; children, Linda Lawson, Paul Kidd Jr and Diana (John) Korte; step-children, Jocelyn Buckingham, Roxanne Filegar and Kathryn Buckingham-Fry; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings, Janevieve Patton and Ted Kidd; and five half-siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings, and five half-siblings. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
