Paul Howard Meyers' Obituary
Paul Howard Meyers was born on June 1,1939 in Monroe, Michigan and passed away on November 3, 2023 in Spring Lake, Michigan.
Paul graduated from Monroe High School (1957) and Eastern Michigan University (1963). Paul went on to earn a commission in the U.S. Navy. He served four years and was released from active duty at the rank of full lieutenant. Paul was proud of his service to our country. After a few months in the Navy, Paul came home to marry Margaret Diane Edens of Farmington, Michigan. They moved on to his next training assignment in Georgia. Three months later they were on their way to Hawaii and the Pacific Airborne Early Warning Barrier Squadron. Hawaii was their honeymoon. The squadron was closed due to advances in technology. Paul finished his Naval experience at the Navy’s Advanced Jet Training Command as a ground instructor in Kingsville, Texas.
Paul took a job in Muskegon where their daughter Elizabeth “Lisa” was born. With a business opportunity Paul, Diane and Lisa moved to Adrian, MI where their son Michael was born. Paul and Diane owned and operated a travel agency for twenty years. He then moved into the brokerage business by bringing an EF Hutton office to Adrian. Paul retired to care for his mother, who ultimately passed away at 101.
Paul enjoyed traveling with Diane in the U.S. and Europe, and also activities closer to home like golf, fishing, boating and euchre. A good day ended with grilling dinner for his family. Paul is survived by his loving wife Diane of 60 years; children Lisa (Mike) Schanhals and son Michael (Jennifer) Meyers; three grandsons, Nick and Paul T. Schanhals and William Meyers; and his sister Ann’s family. Paul’s family is what made him proud most of all - to the moon and back.
Paul is preceded in death by mother, Catherine Read and sister, Ann LaBarge.
A private family service has been held.
