Paul H. Pattison's Obituary
Mr. Paul H. Pattison, age 89, of Spring Lake and formerly Cheboygan passed away Monday, January 4, 2021. He was born September 24, 1931 in Caro, MI to J. Arnold and Myrtle Pattison. On April 20, 1957 he married Margaret Brandt in Dearborn, MI.
Paul was a pharmacist in Cheboygan, Mi for 38 years, working side by side with his wife, Margaret. He absolutely loved his work. Being helpful, and getting people their much needed medication were of the utmost importance to him. During that time span, he and Margaret raised their three boys, Jeff, Greg and Derek in the Moonlight Bay neighborhood, nestled on the Cheboygan river. Being one of the local pharmacists, Paul was well known throughout the community. He was a member, and past president, of the Cheboygan Kiwanis Club and an enthusiastic Cheboygan High School sports booster and proud member of the Dads Club. He loved camping and took his family on countless camping vacations throughout the years, creating memories that would last a lifetime. He loved and excelled at being the family storyteller. His specialty, when traveling, was taking “shortcuts”, which meant you could add on several hours to the travel day. He earned his pilots license and thoroughly enjoyed flying around Northern Michigan. Upon retirement, in 1996, he and Margaret became full time RV’ers. He enjoyed wood carving, square dancing, sailing and making friends wherever their journey took them. In 2008 they took up permanent residence in Norton Shores and then eventually Spring Lake in 2017. Paul’s infectious personality, honesty, selflessness, amazing sense of humor, booming laugh and fierce love of family and friends, will be sorely missed by all who loved him fiercely in return.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret; three sons: Jeffrey (Wendy) Pattison of Traverse City, Greg (Penny) Pattison of Fennville, Derek (Sue Griffin) Pattison of Lowell; six grandchildren: Cody (Annette), Kyle (Mandy), Chase, Tessa, Caylee, and Jacob; one great-granddaughter, Savannah; sister, Shirley (C. Bruce) Privacky.
With COVID 19 restrictions the family will hold a private service. Please feel free to sign the family’s online guestbook at www.sytsemafh.com
