Mr. Paul T. "The Greek" Peliotes' Obituary
Mr. Paul T. Peliotes, age 85, passed away Tuesday morning, May 29, 2012. He was born July 12, 1926 in Grand Rapids to John and Mary (Fotis) Peliotes. Paul was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He was a Sargent serving all over Europe and worked in the Grave Registration Department. For 47 years he worked for Viking Foods before retiring. He had also worked at Russ’ Restaurant as a cook for 6 years. Paul was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and was a member of the VFW Post #446. He was an avid Detroit sports fan, enjoyed traveling, and eating out. On June 28, 1952 he married the former Josephine J. Buhr in Muskegon and she survives him along with 3 children, Paul M. Peliotes of Muskegon, Sheila Raye (Fred) Connelly of Montague, Joanne (Tony) Chandonnet of Muskegon; 3 grandchildren, Vanessa Peliotes, Dr. Paul James (Erica) Gillard, Audrey Lynn Tufts; 2 great-grandchildren, Aiden and Claire; brother, Peter (Barb) Peliotes of Muskegon; 4 sisters, Theresa (Robert) Underwood of North Port, Molly Curran of Florida, Sula Franks of Jenison, Nicki (Larry) Gess of Georgia; 2 sisters-in-law, Maxine and Ethel Peliotes; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Frank and Chuck “Gus” Peliotes; sister, Sophie Masterman; and his son-in-law, Tim Tufts. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210 with the Rev. Fr. Antony Britto presiding. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St. Thomas Catholic Church Memorial Fund.
