Paul E. Rice's Obituary
Paul E. Rice, age 61, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 27, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 28, 1961, to John and Margaret (Krehn) Rice Sr. in Muskegon, MI where he has remained a life-long resident. He graduated from Fruitport High School class of 1980 and continued his education at Lincoln Tech. where he earned his associate degree. He dedicated numerous years working as a mechanic for both Allis Tires and Mike Dowdy Auto. Paul most recently worked in maintenance at Gerber. On October 17, 1992, Paul married the love of his life, Jean Juusola in Muskegon. Together they cherished 31 years full of love, laughter and a lot of racing. Paul had a passion for anything and everything racing. It was more than just a passion it was a way of life, spending most of it at Crystal Motor Speedway. He enjoyed spending time with his son, working on one of the many cars he collected over the years or out hunting all weekend long. Above all, he cherished his family and loved them unconditionally. Family meant everything to Paul, and he knew he lucked out with having the very best one. He will always be remembered for his hard work and determination that was balanced with his kind and loving spirit. Paul will be missed by the many who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife, Jean Rice; son, Curtis (Ashley Giesbrecht) Rice; granddaughter, Adalynn; six siblings, Mary (John) Pettit, John (Tammy) Rice, Michelle (Tim) Beckley, Mark (Christine) Rice, April Rice and Andy (Beth) Rice; in-laws, Wanda Freye, Karl (Connie) Juusola, Kay (John) Hansen and Tammy Juusola; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tim Rice; and brothers-in-law, Keith Juusola and Wayne Juusola. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Service, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with visitation from 10-11:00 AM.
