Mr. Paul Howard Stearns' Obituary
Paul Howard Stearns went to be with the Lord on Sunday April 7, 2013. He was 89 years old. Paul was born on May 28th 1923 to Frank and Pearl (Alford ) Stearns. Paul married Doris Buck in 1946 and they enjoyed 66 years of marriage. During World War II Paul proudly answered the call and served as a fighter pilot where he flew P 51 Mustangs. Paul was a retired engineer from the Muskegon Piston Ring. He was an extremely active person, serving on the Board of Directors for General Hospital, Love Inc. and the YMCA. He was Chairman of Camp Pendalouan, a member of the Y’s Mens Club and served as secretary of the Society of Automotive Engineers. Paul was an active member of Grace Christian Reformed Church serving many years as an elder. He built over 180 handicap ramps for Love Inc. for those in the community. Paul was a follower of Christ and a humble, loving man of grace and dignity. He will be deeply missed by many. He left behind: his wife, Doris, of 66 years; 2 sons, Roger Stearns (deceased) and Frank Stearns; 3 daughters, Linda (Jim) Samuelson, Nancy (John-deceased) Klomp, and Carol (Doug) Ohime; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 1 brother, David (Maritia) Stearns. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Mort and Roger; and 2 sisters Joyce Jessie and Lucy Smrcina. SERVICES will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday April 10th at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., 231-726-5210, with Pastor Douglas Ohime, Don Wood and Marv Wassink officiating. VISITATION will be held on Tuesday April 9th from 3:00-7:00pm. In lieu of flowers MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS can be made to Camp Pendalouan, or the Mississippi Christian Family Services.
