Paula Rae Legard's Obituary
Paula Rae Legard, 67 yrs old, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 10, 2022, at her home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Paula was born on February 8, 1955, in Muskegon, Michigan to Ted and Elsa Barrett. She was a lifelong resident of Muskegon and graduated from Mona Shores High School. Additionally, Paula was a lifetime member of the Polish Falcons of Muskegon. She worked several years with Clark Sanding before starting a 34-year career in purchasing at Sun Chemical, retiring in 2014 as Purchasing Manager of the Muskegon site. Paula loved pampering her grandchildren, sitting by a campfire at her trailer in Ellsworth, Michigan, riding around Muskegon Lake on her pontoon boat, fishing and boating on Lake Charlevoix and Waloon Lake in Northern Michigan, and sharing "Happy Hour" with her many friends. Paula was always upbeat, smiling, and loved everyone. Paula married David Legard, husband of 32 years, on July 4, 1990. She is survived by husband, David; daughter, Abby (Cooper) Farwig and husband, G. Nicholas Farwig of Chicago, IL; granddaughters, Gabby and Ally; stepson, Jeffery Legard of Muskegon, MI; step grandchildren, Riley, Ethan, and Ryan; stepson, Christopher Legard and wife Emily, of Williamstown NY; step grandson, Leo; sister, Claudia Barrett Anderson of Fraser MI, and many other cousins, in-laws, and friends. Special notice to close friends, Jim and Laurie Duplissis, who helped immensely through this tough journey. Paula was preceded in death by parents, Ted and Elsa; mother and father-in-law, Morgan and Gladys Legard; dearly loved and missed son, Ted Cooper; brother-in-law, Robert Legard; sister-in-law, Sharon (Legard) Jacobs; and brother-in-law, Don (Claudia) Anderson. Paula was a member of Laketon Bethel Reformed Church. A service to remember and celebrate Paula's life will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 12:00 PM at Laketon Bethel Reformed Church (1568 W. Giles Road, North Muskegon, MI) with Dr. Sherwin Brantsen officiating. Visitation with Paula’s family taking place one hour prior to the service. Luncheon following the service at church. Contributions in her memory may be made to Hospice of Michigan or Laketon Bethel Reformed Church.
