Paul Clarence Zemke, D.V.M.'s Obituary
Zemke, Paul C. (Zem)(Wildman)(Doc)(Uncle Paul), passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011 at his home. He was born in Muskegon on April 11, 1948 to Clarence A. and Sophie B. (Panks) Zemke. Paul graduated from Muskegon High School class of 1966, Muskegon Community College class of 1968 and received his degree in Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University in 1971. He owned and operated Norton Shores Veterinary Clinic for 26 years and finished his career with the U.S.D.A./F.S.I.S. He married the former Susan Joy Anderson in Marquette, MI on May 6, 1972. He leaves his loving wife, Susan Joy of 38 years, loving daughter, Holly Ann (Joshua) Riley of Twin Lake, MI and loving son, Kyle Robert Zemke at home; 3 grandchildren, Kiryn, Addison and Tesla; his godson, Kevin Abdelkader and goddaughter, Jill Howell; his courageous and trusting pets, Mr. Bigglesworth, Mrs. Wobbles, Punkie, Breslin and his honeybees. Most important after his family, he treasured each and every friendship that he had made in his lifetime, many of whom came to visit him in his last days. Paul was a member of the Vikings Linne’ Lodge, Muskegon Eagles Aerie 668 and Michigan State Alumni Assoc. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, January 16, 2011 at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100 with Rev. Marcie Miller officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service. MEMORIAL contributions may be made to Samuel Lutheran Church or V.N.S. Hospice.
