Pauline F. Buikema's Obituary
Pauline F. Buikema, age 98, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Roosevelt Park Nursing Home. She was born February 12, 1923 in Muskegon to Ludwig and Susie (Barnum) Neumann and was a lifelong resident of the area. On December 13, 1944, she married John Buikema, Jr in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on July 4, 1987. John and Pauline owned and operated the El Royal Motel and the Vista Motel for over 30 years before their retirement. Survivors include her daughter, Sally J. Castner; her daughter-in-law, Patti Routt; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Lewis (Dorothy) Neumann, Richard (Katie) Neumann. She was preceded in death by her husband; 2 children, Patti Buikema and John Buikema III; 1 brother, Roger Neumann; and 4 sisters, Lorraine Yerkie, Caroline Barber, Maxine Hansen, and Lois Elliott. There will be no public services for Pauline. Burial will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery in Fruitport.
