Mrs. Pauline Mae Payne, age 81, died early Wednesday morning, October 29, 2003. She was born April 16, 1922 in Brethren, MI to William and Cuma (Swihart) Leckrone and had lived in the Muskegon area since the 1940’s. Mrs. Payne had worked for DeBoer Nursing Home for 26 years before retiring in 1988. She was a member of First Wesleyan Church, enjoyed bowling, gardening, and golfing with her grandson. On April 21, 1948 she married Arthur Payne in Muskegon and he survives her along with 2 children, Sheila (Gerald) Tjapkes, Bradley (Janet) Payne both of Muskegon; 5 grandchildren, Tracey (Ken) Huston, Amy and Carey Tjapkes, Christopher and Jennifer Payne; brother, Harry (Pat) Leckrone of Hastings, MI; 2 sisters, Betty (Clem) Bielecki of Westland, MI, Martha Hansen of Leslie, MI; and a long-time friend, Bonnie Connell of Plant City, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, and 1 sister. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Saturday at First Wesleyan Church with Rev. Richard K. Bennett officiating. Burial will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation. MEMORIALS to Hospice of Muskegon/Oceana will be appreciated.
