Pearl E. Patterson's Obituary
Pearl E. Patterson, age 98, of Grand Haven, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2020 in Aurora, CO. She was born February 11, 1922 in Muskegon Heights, to Myron and Jesse (Van Arman) Powers. She married Marvin Patterson on May 28, 1942 at Temple Methodist Church in Muskegon Heights. They were married 60 years, at the time of his death in 2002.
Pearl attended Muskegon Heights High School. She worked at Continental Motors and Shaw Walker. She also worked with Marvin at Pippel Patterson and Patterson Enterprises. After traveling around the country with Marvin while he served in the army, she moved to Grand Haven where they raised four children. Pearl was a member of the United Methodist Church of the Dunes and was very involved in many of the church’s activities. She was in the Stephen Ministries, taught Sunday school, served on many boards and committees and Esther Circle. In addition to being a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, she was a Red Cross volunteer. Pearl had a great love of nature and animals, where she was known to take in and care for injured animals. She was also a very accomplished seamstress.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children; Phyllis (Don) Dickmann of Petoskey, Diane (Steve) Lehman of Oak View, CA, Tom (Cara) Patterson of Aurora, CO and Doug (Vicki) Patterson of Grand Haven. Pearl was blessed with eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Pearl was preceded in death by her three sisters and a brother.
A family gathering celebrating her life will be held next summer in 2021. Pearl’s cremains will be placed with her husband’s in the United Methodist Church of the Dunes Memorial Garden.
