Mrs. Pearl N. Vanderlaan's Obituary
Mrs. Pearl N. Vanderlaan, 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday morning, November 8, 2019. She was born October 23, 1930 to James and Anna (Musch) Vannette in Muskegon, and was a lifelong resident. Pearl was a longtime active member of Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church, and was a dedicated supporter of Muskegon Christian School and Western Michigan Christian High School/Middle School. With her quiet spirit, she served the Lord in many very special ways. Pearl was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. On May 4, 1950 she married Arnold J. Vanderlaan, and he preceded her in death on January 8, 2018. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her entire family; her children: Tom (Pat) VanderLaan; Sue (John) Sytsema, Mary Dykstra, Bob (Susan) Vanderlaan; 13 grandchildren: Anne (Keith) VanGoor, Katie (Sam) Sportel, Jill (Tim) Harris, Kelli (Chad) Drenth, Scott (Rebecca) Sytsema, Todd (Nancy) Sytsema, Craig (Jen) Sytsema, Melissa (Chris) Warp, Jessica (James) Bolan, Evan (April) Vanderlaan, Laura (Aaron) Ridings, Courtney Vanderlaan, Elliott (LaRissa) Vanderlaan; 25 great -grandchildren: Zoe, Sydney, Owen, Emily, Bjorn, Jensen, Gabe, Brynn, Madelyn, Emma, Lyla, Drew, Ryan, Greta, Hunter, Jackson, Grace, Chloe, Peter, Elsie, Lena, Clara, Lily, Caleb, Anneke, and one more on the way. Pearl was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Terry Dykstra, and her brothers, David and Arthur. The funeral service will be Tuesday, November 12, at 11:00 AM at Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church, 695 Allen Ave., Muskegon, 49442. Visitation at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., Muskegon, MI 49441, will be Monday, November 11, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Interment will take place at Laketon Township Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Vanderlaan may be made to Muskegon Christian School or Western Michigan Christian High School/Middle School.
