Mr. Peter C. "Pete" Luke's Obituary
Mr. Peter C. “Pete” Luke, age 68, passed away Monday evening, March 19, 2012. He was born July 19, 1943 in Syracuse, NY to George and Margaret (Mergardt) Luke. Pete was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He graduated from the University of Buffalo in New York with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting. He had worked for Accurate Income Tax and Accounting, Inc. and then for West Michigan Therapy for 10 years before retiring in 2009. Pete was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and attended the #200 Cursillo weekend. He enjoyed reading, traveling, fishing, camping, and wood crafts. He especially enjoyed chopping wood. On September 25, 2005 he married Gwen Hladki in Muskegon and she survives him along with 2 children, Kelly (Ken) Niergarth of Lamont, MI, Kimberly VanderMolen of Muskegon; Gwen’s children, Scott (Margie) Hladki, Sandra (Roger) Stone both of Muskegon; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, George M. (Anna) Luke of SC, Richard J. (Carol) Luke of MA; 3 sisters, Catherine McAninch of IN, Ellen (Rich) McGregor of ME, Mary (Bob) Fahle of NC. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Cynthia Luke. THE FUNERAL LITURGY will be celebrated 1:00 PM Saturday at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Antony Britto presiding. Burial will take place in Fort Custer National Cemetery on Monday. VISITATION with the family will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Friday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100 with a Scripture Service held at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to West Michigan Therapy or Harbor Hospice.
