Peter McKenzie's Obituary
Mr. Peter McKenzie, age 90, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2006 at Mercy Hospital. He was born April 29, 1916 in Sault St. Marie, MI to Peter and Lydia (Murry) McKenzie. On September 16, 1939, he married the former Marie E. Skippen in Sault St. Marie and they moved to the Muskegon area in 1945. Prior to his retirement in 1981, he worked 28 years as a construction supervisor and plant manager for Wenting Building and Manufacturing. He had also worked for the Soo Hardware and Muskegon Hardware. He was a member of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, and piloting his own personal recreational plane, a TaylorCraft. SURVIVORS include his wife, Marie E. McKenzie of Muskegon; 6 children, Bernie (Pam) McKenzie, Jerry (Jean) McKenzie, Greer Marie (Jim) Munch, Jim (Mary) McKenzie, Ann (Rick) Priese, Karl McKenzie all of the Muskegon area; 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Lucy Quinlin of Detroit and Chris McInnis of Colorado Springs, CO. The Liturgy of the Word with Burial Rites will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 19, 2006 in the Marian Chapel of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Thomas G. Simons presiding. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service, 10-11 AM Wednesday at church. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Muskegon-Oceana.
