Peter L. Myers' Obituary
Mr. Peter Lundquist Myers, age 61, died peacefully at his home on Monday morning, July 23, 2012. He was born May 23, 1951 in Paris, France, moving to Buffalo, NY in 1964 and then on to Michigan 39 years ago. Peter was a social worker for the State of Michigan’s Department of Human Services for 28 years, prior to his retirement in 2008. He also served as the Veteran’s Support Coordinator at Disability Connections. Peter loved sailing, working on projects and spending time with family and friends. He was an active member of the Muskegon Conservation Club, working tirelessly on marina infrastructure and development. On June 26, 1987 he married Susan Cloutier and she survives him along with his two sons, John Myers of Marina del Rey, CA and Andrew Myers of Chicago, IL; 2 sisters, Martha (Pete) Long of Vienna, VA and Maude (Bob) Hamm of Burbank, CA; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Elizabeth (née Lundquist) Myers, his brother, Mark Myers and sister, Sarah Myers. A memorial gathering reflecting on Peter’s life will be held at his home, 1436 Brusse Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442 on Friday evening, July 27, 2012 from 5 – 8:00 PM, with a time of Memorial and Reflection at 6:00 PM. For a more lasting memorial representing Peter’s life-long community service to the State of Michigan you are asked to consider the Disability Connection Fund of either the Muskegon or Fremont Community Foundations.
