Peter James Durling's Obituary
Mr. Peter James Durling, age 60, passed away Friday, December 28, 2007 in Muskegon. He was born July 8, 1947 in Hilthelgreen, England to James Alfred and Gladys Rose (LeMon) Durling and came to the U.S. when he was 6 years old. He moved to the Muskegon area from the Detroit area 13 years ago. Peter was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and served from 1968-1988. After his time in service, he worked as a self-employed carpenter and currently operated Pete’s Handyman Service the past 5 years. SURVIVORS include his 3 children, Laurie Gimbutis, James Durling, Alois (Channing) Durling; 7 grandchildren, Trenton, Brett, Faith, Felicia, Gerald, Curtis, and Aiden; his mother, Gladys R. Durling; special friend, Linda Boynton; and family friends, Martin and Sharon Holmes. He was preceded in death by his father, James A. Durling. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, January 5, 2008 at Bethany Christian Reformed Church (1105 Terrace) with Pastor David Sieplinga officiating. INTERMENT with military honors will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI at a later date.
