Philip R. DeWall's Obituary
Philip R. DeWall, age 73, went to be with his Lord Friday morning, February 23, 2018, at Mercy Hospital following a brief illness. Phil was born July 6, 1944 in Muskegon to Corniel and Jeanette (Wierengo) DeWall; and had been a life resident of the area. He was a graduate of Western Michigan Christian High School and was an avid follower of its sports teams. He had been employed at Reliable Auto Supply for 13 years; prior to retiring from West Michigan Burial Vault Co., in 2007, after 30 years of employment. Phil also enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve; and was a member of Grace Christian Reformed Church, where he was currently serving as an Elder. He was a former member of First Christian Reformed Church where he had served as an Elder, Deacon, choir member and church bus driver. On January 5, 1979 he married the former Sharon Malda. Survivors include his wife, Sharon; three brothers, Corniel “Niel” DeWall of Grand Haven, Marv (Sue) DeWall and Bob (Judy) DeWall, of Muskegon; father-in-law, William Malda and three brothers-in-law, Bob (Ruthie) Malda of Zeeland, Dan (Barb) Malda of Middleville and Jim (Barb) Malda of Muskegon. FUNERAL SERVICES for Phil will be 11:00 AM Thursday, March 1, 2018 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Svcs., 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444, 231-798-1100. VISITATION will be 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday. Interment will be in Restlawn Cemetery.
