A Wonderful Son and Best Friend
On December 23rd, 2005 Philip Paul Johnson Jr. went home to be with our Lord after a brief illness. Phil was born in Grand Haven on April 9th, 1986. His parents are Phil and Kim Johnson of Grand Haven. Phil graduated from Grand Haven in 2004 and currently worked for Resource Planning and Design, LLC of Spring Lake. Phil loved spending time with his family and friends, being outdoors and living life to its fullest. Phil grew up on Potawatomi Bayou and enjoyed fishing, sailing, skiing, tubing, and music at campfires by the waters edge. He was a member of Spring Lake Wesleyan Church and participated in Youth Group and also helped with the Kids Church on Sunday Mornings. Phil’s strength and faith in Jesus Christ was strong and his personal relationship with Him saw Phil through many challenging times. Our Father lovingly led Philip home with his parents at his side. Phil is survived by his parents Phil and Kim Johnson (G.H., MI), Grandfather Paul Friedli (Saranac, MI), Grandmother Kate Troske (Rockford, MI), Aunts and Uncles Chris and Bobbi Johnson (Newport, MI), George and Judy Bailey (Wayne, MI), Chris and Dan Varney (Greenville, MI), Jeff and Kathy Johnson (Grand Haven, MI), Theresa Johnson (Coopersville, MI), Joseph and Lilly Troske (New Orleans, LA), and several cousins. Phil was preceded in death by his Grandparents Bill and Ellen Johnson, Grand Parents Roselyn Friedli and Jerry Troske, Aunt Mary Troske, Uncle Peter Johnson, and his cousin Lela Johnson. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Spring Lake Wesleyan Church with the Revs. Steve Deur and Don Turner officiating. Friends may meet the family at church two hours prior to the service from 12-noon until 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery.
