Mr. Phillip E. Poort's Obituary
Phillip Poort, age 85, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019. He was born in Muskegon to Cornelius (Casey) Poort and Teresa Lynch on May 11, 1933. Phillip graduated from Muskegon High School and married Rosemary Stevens in 1953. After the birth of their daughter, they moved to California in 1957. Phillip held a variety of positions in sales and briefly hosted an interview television show. He attended Los Angeles Valley College where he graduated with an associate degree in business. As a former member of the Muskegon High School golf team, he continued his passion for golf throughout his life. He was also an avid football sports enthusiast and enjoyed following college and pro-football games. Phillip was preceded in death by his sisters, Yvonne (Poort) Kwiecien, Patricia (Poort) VanAndel; and brother, Clem Poort. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Rosemary Stevens Poort; daughter, Collette (Don) Bachtel; grandsons, Andrew Bachtel and Alex Bachtel; sister-in-law, Iris Poort; brother-in-law, Leo Kwiecien; and numerous nieces and their families.
