Philomena M. Gunn's Obituary
Mrs. Philomena M. Gunn, age 102, died Tuesday, November 28, 2007 at the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence. She was born June 25, 1905 in Vulcan, MI to Peter and Mary (Verwimp) Melbow and had resided in the area most of her life. Mrs. Gunn was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she was involved in their Altar Society. She also enjoyed reading and gardening. On September 30, 1925, she married Arthur Gunn and he preceded her in death on August 22, 1995. SURVIVORS include son, Kyren (special friend, Linda McCann) of Fruitport; foster son, Roger Oleniczak; 3 grandchildren, Barb Sherman, Kimberly (Jerry) Weigold, Anne-Marie (Jim) White; 2 step-grandchildren, Mary (Randy) Schaab, Bill (Dawn) Nelson; 13 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; special friend, Nancy Vanderleest and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gunn was also preceded in death by 1 grandson, Patrick Gunn; 2 daughters-in-law, Ginger and Karen Gunn; 7 brothers and sisters. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 12 Noon Saturday December 1, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Thomas Page presiding. VISITATION with the family will be 6-9 PM Friday with a prayer service at 7:30 PM at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey 231-798-1100 and 1 hour prior to the service, Saturday from 11AM-12NOON. Entombment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial Contributions to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or the Harbor Hospice Poppen House would be appreciated.
