Phoebe Jean Strazanac's Obituary
Phoebe Jean Strazanac, age 83, of Grand Haven passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2009, at a local care facility. She was born March 6, 1925, in Grand Haven to Elwyn “Wyn” Barnard and Alma Alice (Comer) Brown, and she married Arthur J. Strazanac on June 26, 1944, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grand Haven. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1983.
Phoebe was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and she enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, playing cards, and fishing.
She is lovingly remembered by four sons: David (Susan) Strazanac of West Olive, Steven Strazanac of Grand Haven, Robert Strazanac of Grand Haven, and Gregory (Donna) Strazanac of Grand Haven; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Dorothy Dykstra of Florida and Betty Reus of Grand Haven; a brother, Frank (Harriet) Brown of Grand Haven; and a sister-in-law, Sr. Mary Julianne Strazanac RSM. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon, who died at birth; a son, James “Jim” Arthur Strazanac; a sister, Margaret Erickson; and a brother, Robert E. Brown.
The Funeral Mass for Phoebe will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2009 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grand Haven with Rev. Phillip Nguyen as celebrant. Friends may meet the family from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm Friday, February 6, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with a scripture service held at 7:00 pm with Deacon Richard Fett officiating. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery. Memorials to Hospice of North Ottawa Community or to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church are appreciated.
