Phyllis E. Cooper's Obituary
Phyllis (Stewart) Cooper, 94, entered into the presence of the Lord peacefully on May 4, 2025, surrounded by love. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, devotion to family and friends, and her artistic talents.
Born on February 21, 1931, to Asa and Beatrice Stewart, Phyllis grew up with her younger sister, Peggy, and brother, Bert. She graduated with honors from Ravenna High School, then married Wayne Cooper on October 19, 1950. Over the next 18 years, they were blessed with three sons. She and Wayne also fostered a boy, Buddy, from the Muskegon Children's Home. Phyllis found joy singing in the church choir and traveling with Wayne to sing when he preached. She was a self-taught pianist who loved to play church hymns and Christmas carols. Her other talents included quilting, crocheting, and painting. She loved her family deeply and touched the lives of many with her compassion and generosity.
Phyllis is now reunited with Wayne, Burton, Thomas, and many other family and friends in Heaven. Her son, Marty (Brea) Cooper; brother, Bert and sister-in-law, Donna Cooper, along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren are left to cherish her memory.
A service celebrating Phyllis's life will be held at Ravenna Free Methodist Church on Saturday, May 31, 2025. Visitation will begin at 11 am, followed by the service at 12 noon. A luncheon will be provided after the internment at Ravenna Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ravenna Free Methodist Church Music Ministry, continuing her legacy of faith and service. The family would also like to thank Harbor Hospice and the Tibbet House Elder Care Home for their compassionate and loving care given to Phyllis.
