Phyllis Irene Papanoli's Obituary
Mrs. Phyllis Irene Papanoli, age 88, of Spring Lake passed away Friday, October 6, 2017. She was born September 21, 1929 in Spring Lake to Herman and Frances (Katt) Vink, and was a 1947 graduate of Grand Haven High School. On February 6, 1960, she married Michael Emmanuel Papanoli, and he preceded her in death on August 26, 2006.
Phyllis was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Grand Haven, 100 (or more) Women Who Care, Spring Lake Country Club, Spring Lake Yacht Club, and the Women’s Golf Association. She volunteered for many years with Jr golf, as well as the SLIT tournament. She was a Great Books Foundation Leader, enjoyed gardening, playing and organizing bridge for many friends, golfing and traveling to numerous places around the world, her favorite being Maui, which she often referred to as her paradise. Everyone that knew her would agree, that Most of all she loved spending time with her family, who will miss her dearly.
She is survived by three children, Karyn (Rick) White, William Merchant, Michael John Papanoli (Ashley Woodruff) all of Spring Lake; three grandchildren, Jenifer (Kerry) Walsh, Joel (Norma) Streeting, and Emmanuel (Stephanie) Papanoli; six great-grandchildren: Frances Veenstra, Erick Veenstra, Daniel Veenstra, Tristan Walsh, Logan Streeting, Noah Streeting; great-great-granddaughters, Alaina and Naelle English. She is also survived by her brother Paul (Carol) Vink, of Indiana and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marjorie; and brother-in-law, Robert Twa.
Services will take place at the First Presbyterian Church of Grand Haven on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 11:00 am with memorial luncheon immediately after. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 5:00pm to 8:00 pm at The Spring Lake Chapel (213 East Savidge). Burial has taken place in the Spring Lake Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial Contributions in memory of Phyllis may be given to First Presbyterian Church of Grand Haven, or to Junior Golf at Spring Lake Country Club, or to the Harbor Hospice (Poppen House), whom the family would like to express their extreme gratitude and appreciation for the care Phyllis received during the time she spent there.
