Phyllis E. Arendt's Obituary
Mrs. Phyllis E. Arendt, age 79, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away Thursday evening, July 16, 2009. She was born January 30, 1930 in Saginaw, MI to Sherman and Emma (Wohnradt) O’Dell. Mrs. Arendt worked for Seigel Jewelers for 20 years before retiring. She had also been a one-room school teacher for 4th, 5th, and 6th grades in Saginaw and Grand Rapids. Mrs. Arendt enjoyed drawing, painting, and making peanut brittle from a recipe passed down through the family. She also loved dancing, listening to Big Band and Swing music, and attending the Nutcracker symphony every year at the Frauenthal Center. On August 20, 1955 she married Dexter A. Arendt in Saginaw and he preceded her in death. SURVIVORS include 2 children, Valerie Phillips of Twin Lake, Karen Harrison of North Muskegon; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Humphrey, Leann Erickson, Aaron Brown, Toni Harrison; 2 great-grandchildren, Kayla and Brett Seekins; sister, Lois Johnson of Ionia; sister-in-law, June O’Dell of Saginaw; 2 nieces, Chris George, and Jill Johnson. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Sherman O’Dell, Jr. and Orville O’Dell. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-8 PM Tuesday at
