Phyllis J. Chandonnet's Obituary
Mrs. Phyllis J. Chandonnet, age 91, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2008 in Muskegon. She was born on October 19, 1916 to Joseph and Anna (Kowal) Szost, and resided in the area all of her life. Mrs. Chandonnet retired from Kaydon Corporation after more than 30 years of work. She was a very active member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, and was Past President of their Altar and Rosary Society’s. Mrs. Chandonnet was titled the “Mayor” of Dayspring Assisted Living Residence, where she resided for the past 7 years. On June 28, 1941 she married Lawrence “Larry” Chandonnet, and he preceded her in death on June 26, 1998. SURVIVORS include 2 sons, Robert Chandonnet of Norton Shores, Craig (Loretta) Chandonnet of Tampa; 5 granddaughters, Deanna (Michael) McCloskey, Suzette (Anton) Colon, Nicole (Jeff) Kupfer, Jacqueline Chandonnet and Danielle Chandonnet; 3 great grandchildren, Robert and Elena McCloskey, and Sophia Colon. Mrs. Chandonnet was also preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Walt and Leo Szost; and daughter-in-law, Lynne Chandonnet. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11 AM Friday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Thomas G. Simons presiding. VISITATION with the family will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Thursday at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565 with the Rosary being prayed at 7 PM Thursday. Entombment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider St. Michael’s Catholic Church or Muskegon County Catholic Education Foundation.
