Priscilla H. Hughes' Obituary
Mrs. Priscilla Helen “Chris” Hughes, age 88, went to her eternal resting place on Tuesday, October 12, 2021. She was born in Birmingham, Michigan to John and Edith (Cruickshank) Martz on November 20, 1932. Chris was a graduate of Birmingham High School and the University of Michigan School of Nursing. On October 10, 1953, she married John “Jack” Hughes and they raised six children. She had worked for over 50 years as a registered nurse in Western Michigan. Chris was a strong advocate of volunteering, most notably within her church, community, the American Red Cross, Supper House Muskegon, and hospice. She enjoyed quilting, kayaking, and traveling. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, John; six children, Douglas (Shari) Hughes, Gordon (Kathy) Hughes, Peggy (Harlan) Hutson, Barbara (Kaz Czarnecki) Hughes, Teresa Stowers, and Peter (Debbie) Hughes; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Hughes, at birth in 1970; her parents; and brothers, Phillip and Charles Martz. According to her wishes, a PRIVATE MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held.
